Occurrence Stage - Vegetative Stage
Nature of Damage - Attack the whole plant and damage by sucking the plant sap from the leaves and stem.
Damage Symptoms

Uneven yellow and green patches on the plant

Yellowing of older leaves from the leaf tip to the midrib

Drying or burnt of leaves called Hopper Burn

Best Control Measures

Avoid to cultivate more than 2 crops per year

Cultivate early maturing varieties

Split application of Nitrogen fertilizer

Drain the water for 3-4 days if there is a high density of hoppers in the field

Release natural enemies like predators and parasitoids to the field

Reduce chemicals usage to increase existing numbers of natural enemies in the field
