When fish become adult, they eat verious kind of water fleas, shelled invertebrates at the bottom of the pond, some species of algae lived on other plants, soft aquatic plants, bio wastes, earthworm, small prawn and aquatic insects.
Later, feeding commercial pellet foods can improve not only quality of fish but also quality of water.
Floating pellet can improve the digestion of fish and water quality maintenance can be done more as it is easier to check whether there is food remaining or not.
Feed well-formulated food which have a minimum protein content of 20%.
Use feed with protein content of 32-36% for 1-5 g fish and feed with protein content of 28-32% for larger tilapia fish.
Tilapia can eat more at the optimum temperature.
In addition to natural food, commercial floating pellet and sinking pellet should be used.
Farm-made-feed which is made with locally available indigents such as rice bran, dried fish/shrimp powder, casava powder, oil/sesame cake, etc. can be fed.
