Preparing Perches

• It is important that chickens sleep well during night time and daytime also.

• If chickens sleep on the floor, direct contact from litters and other contaminants can cause infectious diseases and dissemination of parasites.

• Sleeping on perches prevents chickens from pecking and fighting each other.

• One-meter-long perch is sufficient to rest 5 adult chickens.

• Perches should be made with rounded sticks that are not too big or too small. 

• Perches should be treated with engine oil or kerosene oil to keep away from parasites. 

• Perches should match the size of the chickens’ feet.
