Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR)

Feed Conversion Ratio (FCR)
  • Feed conversion ratio is the amount of feed it takes to grow one kilogram of fish. (USAID-HARVEST, 2011)

  • The lower the FCR, the higher the profit.
  • If the floating feed is used, FCR should not be greater 1.5.
  • If the farm-made feed which was made with rice bran, oil cake, dried fish powder, etc., is used, FCR should not be greater 2.5.
  • Thus, proper feeding management is important in fish farming.
  • Determine the daily amount of feed for one month based on desired feeding rate.
