Rice Butterfly and Its Control
Scientific Name - Melanitis ledaismene Cramer
Occurence Stage - Vegetative Stage
Nature of Damage - Larvae feeds on leaf blade of rice. They rest on lower surface of the leaf during daytime and feeds mostly at night.
Damage Symptoms - Leaf cuts, fallen leaves will be found.

Best Control Measures

Remove larvae and pupae by hand picking where labor is available.

Chemical Control

Use systemic insecticides (Carbofurum/ Chlopyriphos/ Asitarmiprit/ Carbosulfan) at the recommended rate only if needed.
