Scientific Name - Orseolia oryzae

Occurrence Stage - Seedling Stage, Vegetative Stage

Nature of Damage - Maggots feed on leaves and growing points

Damage Symptoms - Formation of galls like Onion-leaf and silver-shoots

Best Control Measure 

  • Flooding and drainage of plots

  • Control the sowing date 

  • Fallowing 

  • Reduce application of Nitrogen and Potassium 

  • Cultivate early maturing varieties

  • Set up light traps

Chemical Control

  • Apply Diazinon granules between 14-28 days after sowing 

  • Chlorpyrifos/ Isofenphos (seed treatment) 

  • Apply Ethoprophos between 30 days after transplanting 

  • Carbofurum EC 0.45-0.6 Kg/ha ( Systemic pesticide) 

  • Use contact insecticides at remommended rate. 

  • Azinphos-methyl WP 0.3-0.5 Kg /ha

  • Diazinon EC 1.5 Kg / ha

  • Mephosfolan granules 0.5-1 Kg /ha

  • Phorate granules 1.0- 2.1 Kg/ ha

  • Use Organophospahte insecticides at recommended rate. 

  • Phosphamidon EC 0.4-0.5 Kg/ ha

  • Salithion gramules 0.5-1.0 Kg/ ha

  • Fenitrothion+cynofenphos EC 1.15 Lit/ ha
