Management of Sow stop Breastfeeding

• When the sow is weaned: Those sows are called weaned sows ready to mate.

• This means it is ready for the next breeding season.

• Typically, that sow will mate about 7-15 days after weaning.

• Sow that have just been weaned: are thin because they are nursing their young.

• The sows need to be fed with good quality feed to keep them healthy and fertile.

• They should be placed near the boar and feed provided about 2.5-3 kg per pig/day.
