Erythema disease

• Red mouth, red body, or red spots disease are commonly observed with pangasius during the culturing or rearing stage or the nursery stage, caused by the bacteria Aeromonas hydrophila.

• There are several treatment options including:

 Apply 0.4 milligrams of potassium permanganate (KMnO4) per liter of water into the pond water.

 Soak the fish in a potassium permanganate solution with a concentration of approximately 50-100 milligrams per liter of water for 1 to 2 minutes.

 Apply 2.5-3.5 grams of Terramycin per 50 kg of fish weight, mixed with fish feed, for 10 to 15 days.

 Use 20 to 25 milligrams of salt per liter of water in the pond twice a week for a month.

 There is a simple method using locally available materials as follows:

 For example: The pond size 100 square meters needs the following treatment: 200 grams of lime, 100 grams Tobacco (strongest level), salt 200 gram and the leaf of Crateva magna ( Lour. ) DC 500 grams.

 Mixing and treatment method: These medicines must be crushed and mixed thoroughly, then wrapped in gauze or cloth in 1-2 packets, then tied and immersed in pond water 1-2 centimeters deep near the fish feeding area.

 After 1 week, if the fish still does not recover, the medication should be changed again.
