Site selection

• Ponds should be chosen near rivers and large canals with a clean water source, save on pumping costs, and not be affected by flooding.

• Soil with low water permeability or pond bottoms of clay or loam (retains water for a long time), area with no toxic substances, pesticides, and organic or chemical pollution.

• The open space has enough sunlight (no big trees around).
