Suitable Methods & Time for Weeds Control

Use any suitable method(s) to control weeds. For example , use of good quality seeds, removal of all weeds during the land preparation time, maintain the water level in the plot for certain period based on plant stage, use inter cultivator for weeding between the plant rows, hand weeding.

To control weeds in the transplanted plots, maintain water level at two third height of seedlings for 7-10 days.  

To control weeds in direct seeding plots, irrigate water after 10 to 15 days of seeding date and maintain water level about 4 inches till the rice plants could suppress the weeds. Drainage & irrigation should be made after this time.

In the transplanted plots, weeding/ inter cultivating should be done minimum 2 -3 times at 10-12 days after transplanting, 20-22 days and after 30-32 days respectively.

In the direct seeding plots, weeding/ inter cultivating should be done minimum 2-3 times at 20-22 days after seeding, 30-32 days and 40-42 days respectively.
