Young pigs and pigs for meat

Young pigs and pigs for meat

Refers to pigs from weaning until sale.

Piglets are separated from the nursery cage (nursery) and placed in the growth-out cage at 12 weeks age, when they weigh 18 to 20 kg.

Separating too young age or low weight can reduce the pig ability and potential for growth.

The size of the farming area is very important, especially pigs get bigger. Weaker pigs and pigs that cannot compete with each other do not have the opportunity to feed enough and become smaller.

There should be at least 2 water suction heads in cage, and water should available at all times when pigs need.

Check the water daily, and the water pipes should be made of lead to prevent pig bites.

In pig cages, there should be a thermometer to monitor the temperature.

The ideal temperature for growth-out pigs is 25-28 degrees Celsius. For industrial farming, fans are installed to extract air to absorb odors and to blow air in that cool the temperature inside the cage.
