Catching and transporting pigs

Two weeks after weaning, the piglets can be sold or moved to another location.

When separating piglets to another location, clean and disinfect the new cage first before placing the piglets and equipment (water and feeder trough) and provide adequate feed.

When selling and separating piglets, the following precautions should be taken:

Count the little piglets, holding them by the back legs and the other hand.

It may take two people to catch a young pig, such as forcing it into a cage or onto a truck.

Pigs can bite each other during transport, so put them in the trap if necessary.

During transportation, the pigs are protected from bumps, collisions, and intense heat from the sun.

When the truck carrying pigs stops to rest in the shade, water the pigs to reduce heat. Upon arrival, let the pigs rest for about 30 minutes and then give water and feed to feed.
