Site selection and size follow the pig breed

• Building a cage, the following factors should be considered:

 Pigs can avoid sunlight, heat, and rain.

 Pig cages must have good ventilation and sufficient space.

 The cage should be equipped with water and feed troughs to prevent from waste.

 Cages should be as cheap as we can make them.

 The cage should be built along the sun (east-west) and should be arranged so that the temperature in the cage is only 25-28 degrees Celsius for growth-out pigs.

 Therefore, we should have a thermometer in the cage to monitor the temperature.

 It is possible to have a cooling wall or a fan to keep the cage cool, as the weather is getting hotter year after year, especially in the summer.

 Properly controlling the temperature in the cage is an important factor, as temperature has a significant impact on the growth rate of pigs.

 For sows that breathfeeding and weaned piglets, the temperature should be kept between 37 and 38 degrees Celsius.
