Site selection and size follow the pig breed

Building a cage, the following factors should be considered:

Pigs can avoid sunlight, heat, and rain.

Pig cages must have good ventilation and sufficient space.

The cage should be equipped with water and feed troughs to prevent from waste.

Cages should be as cheap as we can make them.

The cage should be built along the sun (east-west) and should be arranged so that the temperature in the cage is only 25-28 degrees Celsius for growth-out pigs.

Therefore, we should have a thermometer in the cage to monitor the temperature.

It is possible to have a cooling wall or a fan to keep the cage cool, as the weather is getting hotter year after year, especially in the summer.

Properly controlling the temperature in the cage is an important factor, as temperature has a significant impact on the growth rate of pigs.

For sows that breathfeeding and weaned piglets, the temperature should be kept between 37 and 38 degrees Celsius.
