Boar and gilt selection

Selecting a good breed of pig is very important to benefit from pig production because one gilt is bred directly with 10 to 15 boars.

The selection criteria are as follows:

Avoid inbreeding: Do not choose to breed with pigs from the same family.

Choose piglet born from a sow with strong the lettert.

Choose from a sow with many children and breast no less than 12 (6 pairs grow well).

Boar should grow faster, be healthy, and have strong legs, even nails, and straight legs.

The boar must have good reproductive organs (both testicles are intact).

Smooth fur, multiple-feeding, active, wide-open mouth, straight back, open chest.

Never had any infectious diseases.
